Create your own starting ritual so that your wheel of creativity will continuously roll non-stop.
Tadaaa, this is a method that I learnt from “Creativity Habits” of world-famous choreographer - Twyla Tharp. Later, this method is mentioned again along with many scientific experiments in the book Atomic Habit of James Clear, so I guess it is proven to be super strong for your life-long career of creativity.
This ritual is like a magic spell, which you will shout out for miracles to happen. As long as you can find your own ritual, you will work hard on anything anytime you want then become master of it.
This starting ritual should be really simple, for examples:
Move freely to a melody suiting you soul and mood so much
Warm up yourself by some of your favorite dance moves
Revise a choreography you like (and you remember so well it won’t take you too much effort)
Watch your idol dancing and copy him / her as much as possible. Don’t be too serious: maybe just 1 move that you like, or 1 music beat you love in it.
Revise a routine of basic steps you like
Make up, wear pretty clothes
Adjust your camera gorgeously
Stretch
Work out
Etc.
The rule of creating a ritual is that it should be really short and simple, maybe just 2 minutes long. Just try to choose 1 and repeatedly use it before your official dance practice session. Thus, you will have the habit of practicing up to hours just by “a signal” of 2-minute ritual. This will be the alarming bell of your mind and body to get to work hard on what really matters - dancing.
Sometimes, your inner self keeps telling you how badly you want to be a better dancer, but you’re too lazy. This laziness is just the fear of not being talented enough, not being pretty enough. Hence, this ritual will pull you out of those fears immediately by yelling at you, and convincing you at the same time: “IT’S TIME TO DANCE. IT’S FUN AND EASY”
And the moment you stand up and do the ritual, all those fears are gone and your whole self is filled with happiness in dance
Ohw, by the way, Twyle Tharp ritual is just getting a cab to go to her dance studio, how simple is that!
I wish you can find your magical ritual, so that you can practice so hard-core later on and become an excellent dancer.
