Dancing Block Series | Part 5 - It’s okay to take a break sometimes

Writer: alexbdancerralexbdancerr

If you’re getting too tired, it’s okay to take a break once in a while.

This recipe may seem a bit cheesy but it will be the thing you need to hear the mosttt. Sometimes you will get stuck in creating new movements or learning something new with dancing, and maybe being bad or lazy is not so true. The simplest answer for this case will only be you’re not resting enough.

Just like a string being pulled out to the maximum, if you continue to pull it, it will be torn, or forever stuck there at its limit. However, if you decide to stop trying so hard and let the string loosen up a bit, it will be more flexible to create even more shapes than before.

Before, I used to practice regardless of danger, tiredness and sickness. Later, when I got to meet many mentors and fellow dancers, especially my current dance team - The Chiefency, I got some really important reminders of my life: “I have to protect my body and health so that I can dance a lifetime, dance until I grow so so old. Don’t be too crazy and practice too illogically then cause my body to suffer so much that I may not be able to dance again. That will be a big regret.”

During this break, you can have time to do many other things to help relax your mind and then nurture your soul: see dance performances of the others, go traveling, enjoy other art forms, etc. Or simply lie there on the bed / couch to recover all your injuries outside and inside you. In such a time, I wish you will find more love and compassion for yourself and your own dance style, so that you will come back stronger than ever.

Hope you have so much energy physically and mentally to dance so much more, so long more.
